What Is a Contact Lens Exam?

To ensure optimal vision and comfort from your contact lenses, we perform specialized contact lens exams and for patients with “hard-to-fit” eyes, we also offer specialty and scleral lenses as an alternative!

Contact Lens Insertion

Our contact lens exams are designed to determine the appropriate prescription and fit for your contact lenses. Unlike glasses, which sit in front of your eyes, contact lenses are placed directly on them, requiring a unique prescription tailored to your specific needs. During the exam, our comprehensive care team will evaluate your front-of-eye health to ensure they are suitable for contact lens wear. Using advanced technology to measure your eyes accurately, we can also determine the right type and size of your lenses to ensure a snug, comfortable fit.

Why Are Contact Lens Exams Important?

Contact lens exams are crucial because properly fitting contacts are necessary for effective vision correction and eye health. Ill-fitting lenses can cause discomfort and blurry vision, and if you have certain eye health issues, standard contacts may not even be suitable. By undergoing a contact lens exam, we can make sure you receive the right lenses for your vision and overall eye health.

Contact lenses are a medical device and require both the correct prescription and curvature to properly fit the eye. Our doctors will discuss the variety of contact lens options with you to select the type that best fits your vision needs and lifestyle. If you suffer from dry eye, allergies, or recurring eye infections, speak with our staff to determine whether contact lenses are right for you. Contact lenses are available in either soft or rigid gas permeable form. Specialized contact lenses, such as bifocal contact lenses or rigid gas permeable (RGP) lenses, are also available for patients with special eye conditions. Call us if you are interested in learning if contact lenses are a good fit for you.

Our Contact Lens Options

We take great pride in adopting corneal contact lens technology. Specializing in managing complex contact lens cases, such as Keratoconus, post-surgery patients, and various eye diseases, our expertise goes beyond standard exams and solutions. We handle the most challenging contact lens situations and provide tailored solutions for optimal vision and comfort.

Standard Contacts

In addition to our specialty contact lenses, we understand that standard lenses can be an excellent solution for many individuals. To ensure we meet your specific needs and lifestyle, our practice offers an extensive selection of top-quality standard lenses, ranging from daily to monthly wear options. With a wide variety of types and trusted brands available, we’re confident that we’ll find you the perfect pair of contacts that will improve your vision and quality of life.

Scleral Lenses & Other Specialty Lenses

For individuals with poor front-of-eye health or “hard-to-fit” eyes that can’t typically wear standard contact lenses, we offer a range of specialty options. Scleral lenses are a remarkable solution that not only makes contact lens wear possible but can also help improve conditions such as dry eye. Advanced options like silicone hydrogel and multifocal contact lenses are also available to cater to diverse needs and enhance both vision and comfort.

Myopia Management Lenses

We understand the impact that myopia, or nearsightedness, can have on your child’s development and its potential to worsen over time. To address this, we offer child-friendly myopia management lenses that not only correct their vision but also help slow down the condition’s progression. Offering a range of customizable solutions, such as the innovative MiSight® lenses, our friendly comprehensive care team will create a personalized myopia control plan to effectively manage your child’s condition and promote better long-term eye health.
